HEALING IS POSSIBLE

At One District Therapy, we provide a range of services to meet the needs of children (8+), adolescents, and adults who are experiencing somatic and emotional difficulties because of traumatic events. Our goal is to provide options for services that meet your specific needs. Whatever your experience, we can help.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy can mean a lot of things but, no matter what, it will consist of you working one on one with one of our top-rated therapists. Here, we know the ways in which traumatic events can overwhelm your system, be difficult to process, and negatively affect your emotional well-being. We also know how to help. Our approach to individual therapy is collaborative and tailored to fit your therapeutic needs.

With us, you’re in good hands. After an evaluation to make sure we are a good fit for you, we will help you match with one of our top-notch therapists, each of whom have extensive experience providing high quality, effective treatment. Your therapist will work with you to design a treatment plan that works for you.

While much of our individual counseling occurs within the framework of once-a-week 50-minute sessions, our clients are not required to fit within this model. Individual therapy sessions can take place in our office, virtually, or in real-life situations where you experience anxiety. We also offer extended evening and weekend hours to fit the demands life places on you.

Group Therapy

Group therapy is often an excellent supplement to individual therapy. It can also be helpful if you have recently left individual therapy or if you have not been in therapy before, but would like to try it. Group therapy can also be a cost-effective alternative to individual therapy.

In Group Therapy, you will be working with one of our therapists along with a group of others working towards a shared goal. While this might seem intimidating, sometimes it is easier to connect with others who are experiencing similar struggles. Groups can be a safe, nurturing, accepting environment for you to share painful feelings and experiences. In group therapy, one goal is to help you find support and to remind you that you are not alone.

One District Therapy offers a variety of group therapy options throughout the year. Previous groups we have offered include: Cognitive Processing Therapy Group, Art Therapy Group, Highly Sensitive Person Group, Trauma-Informed Emotional Regulation group, and Men’s Survivors Group. Please email us to get a list of current groups we are running.

Couples Therapy

We provide couples therapy when you need support and guidance in your partnership(s). In couples therapy, you will explore new ways of communicating, relating, and understanding one other.

In trauma-informed couples therapy, we learn about previous experiences each partner has had in the past that may be contributing to the coping or survival skills they have. We look at how these skills may be causing distress in your current relationship. We help to create opportunities for partners to see the bigger picture, see new ways to repair tears in the relationship, and start to rebuild trust.

At One District Therapy, we honor all consensual relationships. We are equipped to work with couples where one or both partners have trauma histories. We will not be trying to figure out “what’s wrong with you?” or “who is right?” Rather, we are interested in helping you understand how certain patterns you bring to your relationship may have helped you in the past but are not serving you well now.

Therapy Intensives

Sometimes once-weekly therapy isn’t enough. You may need more support, you may be having greater difficulties, or the demands of your schedule may not fit well weekly therapy. Whatever the reason may be, our therapy intensives may be a great option for you.

Research is showing that longer and more frequent appointments over a shorter time span may vastly accelerate healing. We offer ½ day, full day, or multi-day therapy intensives. At One District Therapy, we can develop an intensive trauma treatment package that is custom designed to meet your specific needs.

Everyone is different. Once we understand your needs, we will work to design the intensive that best meets your needs. This may include longer sessions or multiple daily sessions, and/or incorporate multiple trauma treatment modalities. See how we help to learn more about treatment modalities we can use to support your journey in healing.

Asynchronous Text Therapy

Asynchronous Text Therapy means you and your therapist are communicating by text/messaging, but not necessarily at the same time. We provide Asynchronous Text Messaging Therapy if you are struggling with posttraumatic stress symptoms and engaging in more traditional therapy is not possible. While data for long term outcomes have not been examined, short term improvements in symptoms have been found.

At One District Therapy, we can use Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), which is a systematic 12 module cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), to address PTSD symptoms in this platform.

Art Therapy

Art therapy can help you express yourself when words are sometimes hard to find. Art therapy taps into parts of your experience that may not be accessed through talking alone, using creative mediums like drawing, painting, coloring, and sculpture. At One District Therapy, art therapy integrates psychotherapeutic techniques with a creative process allowing a processing of traumatic experiences as well as a deepening of understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Our art therapist is trained and experienced in the integration of trauma-based approaches and theories using art and creativity.

Art therapy is for people of all ages. You do not need to have artistic ability or special talent to benefit from art therapy. Our trained art therapist will guide you step by step.

Trauma Informed Yoga

Yoga is an ancient body mind practice incorporating physical poses, breath work, and meditation, all of which have been shown to be beneficial both for physical and mental health. Practicing yoga can help you connect to yourself in a mindful healing way and may be a great pairing with any other therapy you may be receiving.

Trauma Informed Yoga is based on the understanding of the impact of trauma on the entire mind-body system. If we do not have the opportunity to release the shock or the activation of fight/flight/freeze experienced after a traumatic experience, we can remain stuck. Yoga can be an important resource and aid in balance in our nervous systems.

At One District Therapy, Yoga practice can easily be modified to fit your current needs and physical abilities. Whether you are interested in yoga as a physical practice, if you want to incorporate mindfulness in your life, or if you want to manage stress and/or symptoms of trauma, we can help you find a yoga practice that suits your needs.

Rolfing Structural Integration

Rolfing Structural Integration (Rolfing) is a unique and highly effective method of physical manipulation and movement education with the goal of long-lasting healing of your nervous system by releasing deep restriction and patterns within your fascia.

Traumatic events can shape us, and not just figuratively. Within our bodies, muscles and connective tissue that have tightened in fear can remain that way, blocking the natural flow of energy around the body. Ultimately, this affects our posture and overall body dynamics. This doesn’t have to be permanent. Rolfing can help.

Rolfing aims to address patterns and tension that can develop as a result from trauma, and allows for deep relaxation of your nervous system which has been disrupted by trauma. Tension, tightness, and habitual holding patterns are released through a combination of applied pressure and gentle movements.

Rolfing is traditionally applied in a series of 10 sessions, each a continuation of the previous and an introduction to the next. Overall benefits of Rolfing include: pain relief, improved flexibility, increased range of movement, acute and chronic pain management, release of painful and problematic holding patterns, increased energy, and improved overall well-being.

Cranial Sacral Therapy

Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST), often called craniosacral therapy, is a subtle, meditative practice that promotes deep healing and balancing of your central nervous system.

The body is designed to protect itself from physical or emotional stress by bracing or constricting in preparation to fight, flee, or freeze. If the stress is severe enough or is prolonged, the body remains in that constricted state, even after the trauma is over. By tuning into your body's physiological rhythm of cerebrospinal fluid, the restrictions and strain patterns within the layers of your cranium are gently released.

Naturally, we have a built in capacity to recover from overwhelming or traumatic experiences. At One District Therapy, our Cranial Sacral Therapist can assist in harnessing and encouraging your body’s ability to do just that. As stress is released from your nervous system, your body's own healing process is enhanced and deep healing happens.

If you have a severe bleeding disorder, a diagnosed aneurysm, or a history of recent traumatic head injuries, please let your therapist know before getting started.
